World Organisation for Early Childhood Education
The Bulgarian National Committee for Preschool Education (BNC-OMEP) is a non-governmental organization that was established 30 years ago as part of the World Organisation for Early Childhood Education (OMEP: Organisation Mondiale pour l’Education Prescolaire), which has national branches in 73 countries throughout the world and is closely associated with both the UN and UNESCO. The aims of BNC-OMEP are derived from those of the World OMEP and suitably modified to serve the specific needs of pre-school education and child-care in Bulgaria. Those aims include:
– improving the quality of child-care and education for children aged 0-8 years;
– guaranteeing a state of well-being for every child in accordance with the national legislation;
– establishing international collaboration with other national committees and organisations for teacher preparation and children’s education;
– achieving agreements for the development of international projects, etc.
BNC-OMEP is comprised of active committees with collective and individual members, located in 7 regions of the country.
BNC-OMEP is in close collaboration with governmental institutions and other non-governmental organizations; coordinate its activities with the Ministry of Education and Science, UNICEF, National Agency for Child Protection, Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, Bulgarian UNION of Teachers, National Network for Children, etc.
Members of BNC-OMEP participate in the conferences and forums of the European and World Organization-OMEP.
